A Wellingborough-based home improvement company is set to celebrate its 42nd anniversary this year – with its customer-focussed ethos the secret behind its four decades of success.

T&K Home Improvements has installed to more than 60,000 homes in Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties – a huge achievement considering the business started from humble beginnings.

Started in a garage in 1979 by Wellingborough resident Kevin Johnson and his then business associate, Tony Foster, the company began making double glazed units to go into aluminium frames that they then sold and installed.

Deciding to then manufacture their own windows, the pair moved out of the garage and into a small industrial unit. And after expanding, moving, and then building factories for T&K, the growing team noticed a real demand for their products which meant that in 1985 window and door manufacturer Emplas was born. By 2000, over 100 people were employed, and turnover reached £7.3 million.

Fast forward to today, and it remains a family-run business, with Kevin’s son Ryan the MD, and the group turns over £50 million a year.

And customers have remained at the heart of everything they do, with the company never forgetting its Wellingborough roots.

Adrian Timbers, Sales and Marketing Manager from T&K Home Improvements, said: “While investments and acquisitions have strengthened our ability to use the latest exceptional quality products on every job, from the very beginning T&K has stuck to its values of taking everything personally to ensure every customer receives devoted customer service every step of the way.”

The ‘every customer counts’ approach has seen T&K receive a huge number of accreditations and industry and business awards over the years.

From its first award of many at the annual Glassex Awards in the late 90s, wins at the annual Glazing Awards and being voted Retail Business of the Year at Wellingborough’s Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in 2019 to its prestigious Which? accreditation, having been voted as the top Trusted Trader and receiving a Certificate of Distinction for two years in a row, T&K has consistently demonstrated its pedigree.

“Home improvements can be major outlays for homeowners, and they need to know they are working with a company, product range and supply chain they can really trust,” added Adrian. “Our success over the last 42 years shows that your project will be in the safest of hands.”

At the forefront of technological advances, T&K has recently introduced triple glazing with an A+17 rating, acoustic glazing, enhanced security doors, smart enabled doors, garden rooms, Solar controlled glass, and even tiled replacement roofs for customers.

The investment in new technology means that customers can keep their homes warmer and more secure for many years to come, and significantly reduce heating bills.

T&K Home Improvements offers an advanced and affordable range of windows, doors, conservatories, replacement conservatory roofs, and garden studios and boasts the largest show site in the area. For more information call 0800 622 716, email info@tkhi.co.uk or visit www.tkhi.co.uk
